Villa Masha Zlatibor
About Zlatibor
Zlatibor is one of the most popular mountains and nature parks in Serbia. At only 230km from Belgrade, it is one of the regular tourist attractions to visit.
In the previous years, Zlatibor has grown into a real “mountain metropolis”. It represents an unusual combination of mountain landscapes and newly built tourist accommodation complexes, all in one place.
Zlatibor is an ideal choice, for all those who enjoy mild summers. The subalpine climate is a dominant one which means that the average annual temperature is around 7 degrees. Zlatibor is a plateau that is a part of the Dinaric Mountains. It has an average height of 1000m, and some of the highest peaks are Tornik, Cigota, Crni Vrh and Gradina, which makes it ideal for all those who like to conquer peaks.
One of the interesting facts about Zlatibor is that it does not have natural lakes, only artificial lakes, which represent a significant share in its tourist offer, and their beauty certainly justifies the number of visitors.
The lake on Obudojevica, better known as Zlatibor Lake, represents the heart of Zlatibor‘s promenade. In summer it is ideal for cooling off and enjoying pedal boating, while in winter it turns into a skating rink, and brings out magical winter scenery to the promenade.
Additionally, Zlatibor is only 8km away from another mountain’s jewel, Lake Ribnica. It a popular fishing spot and is very often part of sightseeing tours which usually end at Tornik ski resort. This is a perfect opportunity to visit both places, considering that Tornik is only 4km away from the lake.
When it comes to many attractive hydrologic beauties of Zlatibor, a special emphasis is cast on the Gostilje waterfall. It is one of the ten highest in Serbia and has a special beauty, both in summer and in winter, when it freezes and becomes an unforgettable tourist attraction. There is a fish restaurant nearby, which is widely praised for its specialties; therefore you have all the predispositions for planning a great picnic.
In addition to these beauties that Zlatibor has to offer, the tourist resort “Vodice“ is ideal for rest, walking and relaxation, for those who like to enjoy the untouched landscapes. It is 10 km away from the center of Zlatibor.
When planning a picnic, you should make sure that it definitely includes a visit to Prerast in Dobroselica, Uvac canyon which is only 50 km from Zlatibor, Stopića cave which is a unique monument of its kind and also one of the largest caves in Serbia. Stopića cave houses one of the biggest attractions called “Bigrene kade“, which are certainly the work of the greatest of all artists – nature.
Another one of our suggestions is the village of Sirogojno, and as well as the famous Kusturica‘s Drvengrad in Mokra Gora, also known as Mećavnik. From the railway station in Mokra Gora, you can take the famous train “Ćira“, and jump on the ride through the Šargan Eight, and enjoy unrealistic landscape and nature.
One thing is certain, you will not lack entertainment, rest and pleasure on Zlatibor!
